What is Talking Science?

Talking Science is a competition intended for students and doctoral students who can captivate their audience with their charisma and ability to present knowledge. Participants are asked to present a selected scientific issue in an accessible and understandable way and talk about its importance for society. This is a great opportunity to polish communication skills and share their expert knowledge with the audience.

Stages of the competition

The competition consists of two stages. The first stage involves preparing an abstract of up to 200 words on the chosen scientific topic. During the final, participants have only 3 minutes to present a selected scientific issue, using only a multimedia presentation – without additional scientific aids, audio and video files, or other props. The key criterion is to present ideas and discoveries in a concise and understandable way for a wide audience, including those outside your scientific discipline.

Categories and awards

The competition is held in four categories: Humanities, Social Sciences, Exact and Natural Sciences, and Medical Sciences. The Competition Jury will select 3 winners in each category, and the audience will decide on additional Audience Awards.

Attractive cash prizes await the winners:

  • 1st place – PLN 850
  • 2nd place – PLN 650
  • 3rd place – PLN 450
  • Audience Award – PLN 300
